SUMMARY:
THIS IS A COMPLAINT ABOUT THE FIRE ISSUE ON TESLA CARS. THERE HAS BEEN A RECENT FIRE IN FRANCE HTTP://ARSTECHNICA.COM/CARS/2016/08/TESLA-MODEL-S-FRANCE-BATTERY-FIRE/ THERE HAVE ALSO BEEN TWO BURNED OUT TESLA THAT HAVE SHOWN UP IN THE SALVAGE YARDS (PHOTOS ATTACHED). HTTPS://WWW.FLICKR.COM/PHOTOS/136377865@N05/22399814414/IN/ALBUM-72157661343139261/ THE FIRES IN THE SALVAGE YARD CARS HAVE ALMOST CERTAINLY BEEN CAUSED BY COLLAPSED SUSPENSIONS. THE TESLA IN THE INCIDENT IN FRANCE LOOKS VERY LOW TO THE GROUND AT THE FRONT OF THE CAR. THE ORIGINAL INQUIRY INTO TESLA FIRES WAS CONCLUDED WHEN TESLA ADVISED THAT THE RIDE HEIGHT WAS RAISED FOR SAFETY AND A TITANIUM SAFETY SHIELD WAS FITTED. THE RIDE HEIGHT ONLY REMAINED HIGH FOR A FEW MONTHS AND WAS THEN DROPPED ONCE MORE. THE TITANIUM SHIELD DOES LITTLE TO PROTECT THE BATTERY IN CASES OF SUSPENSION COLLAPSE. I ALSO BELIEVE THAT THE VIDEOS OF THE TITANIUM SHIELD PULVERIZING A CONCRETE BLOCK AND A CAR ALTERNATOR ARE FAKED. HTTP://ARSTECHNICA.COM/GADGETS/2014/03/SHIELDS-UP-TESLA-MODEL-S-GAINS-FREE-TITANIUM-AND-ALUMINUM-ARMOR-UPGRADE/ THE CONCRETE BLOCK AND THE ALTERNATOR IN THE LOW QUALITY VIDEO DO NOT OBEY NEWTON’S FIRST LAW AND DO NOT EXHIBIT THE MECHANICAL STRENGTH THAT WOULD BE EXPECTED OF THEM. I AM CONCERNED THAT THE AUTHORITIES HAVE RELIED UPON THESE CLAIMS AND REPRESENTATIONS MADE FOR THE RELATIVELY FLIMSY SHIELD PLATE WHICH IS ATTACHED ONLY BY PAN-HEAD SCREWS. IF THE CELLS IN THE BATTERY ARE HOT DUE TO RECENT CHARGING OR HEAVY USE THEN A PUNCTURE TO THE BATTERY CASING AND LOSS OF COOLANT CAN EASILY CAUSE A RUNAWAY THERMAL EVENT. PLEASE REVISIT THE FIRE INVESTIGATION AND DETERMINE IF THE FIRE HAZARD HAS BEEN ADEQUATELY RESOLVED.

These are fraudulent claims made by a known nutjob, “Keef Vivaneff” (or something similar).

Keef,
For you this is not a safe car. You should definitely not purchase one. I will feel safer knowing that you are not behind the wheel of such a powerful machine at the same time I’m on the road.
Also, in the vein of concern for the safety and welfare of others, I would suggest that you consult a mental health professional. The amount of time and energy you have put into criticizing a car and the stock price of the company that manufactures that car far exceeds the bounds of normalcy. I would guess you are spending 3-4 hours a day, 7 days a week looking for critical information on a car and its manufacturer.
While there may be another motive such as revenge for Elon musk stealing your girlfriend in 7th grade or something, it appears more likely to be an irrational and illogical fixation.
Perhaps your life would be more fulfilling if you consulted a professional and learned some techniques to limit this to say, 2 hours a week?

New Either this is intentional fud or it is written by someone with very poor critical thinking skills. Either way, there is not much to be said by reasonable people in response.

Uh oh, better stop, Keef! 6ncmountains really handed it to you!

Here is a Tesla in the salvage yard. http://www.copart.com/us/Lot/14649834?searchId=1942545060 It has been burned out. The suspension has collapsed and the car is propped up with pieces of wood. There does not seem to be any impact damage, the front bumper bar and the front wheels are not displaced. Whilst is possible that the suspension has collapsed due to the fire it is also probable that this is another instance of suspension failure causing the battery pack to drag along the ground and ignite. Please investigate the circumstance of this incident. I believe there is still an ongoing problem with Teslas catching fire due to suspension failures and that the company is covering up this problem. Gasoline fires can be extinguished relatively easily but a Lithium Battery fire is almost impossible to put out.

This is a complaint about the issue of fires in the Tesla Model S. Tesla claims that the fires in 2013 were caused by impact with road debris and the danger has been reduced by fitting a battery shield and raising the ride height. The ride height was returned to low after your investigations were completed. The photographs from the fires in 2013 show that the fires were caused by collapsed suspensions and not by any impact with road debris. I believe that the battery shield is no more than window dressing and that the low quality videos showing objects crushed by the battery shield are faked. https://www.tesla.com/blog/tesla-adds-titanium-underbody-shield-and-aluminum-deflector-plates-model-s It is impossible for a block of concrete or a car alternator to crumble like chalk (unless they are made from chalk!) Teslas are still catching fire and occupants have been incinerated. There have been many more burned Teslas than the company is admitting to. See attached photographs. Please investigate.

What happened?
In 2014 a Tesla caught fire in a Toronto garage. This case was included in the NHTSA investigation into the issue of fires in Teslas. Tesla has claimed that the battery of the car was not involved in the fire and that the fire was probably caused by faulty house wiring. http://www.autofocus.ca/news-events/news/tesla-investigates-cause-of-toronto-garage-fire snip: “In this particular case, we don’t yet know the precise cause, but have definitively determined that it did not originate in the battery, the charging system, the adapter or the electrical receptacle, as these components were untouched by the fire,” said a Tesla spokesperson. A video has now showed up in which the purchaser of that car shows the state of the interior. There is no doubt whatsoever that the battery DID ignite: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=srMQBrb_lmM It appears t hat Tesla has been telling lies and deliberately covering up the issue of fires. There have been many more fires since that that one. I have compiled a summary of some suspicious Tesla fires: http://teslabears.club/t/great-balls-of-fire Whilst that collection does contain some humorous posts I can assure you that I am entirely serious about this safety issue. I request that you reopen the fire investigation.

This is a complaint about the fire danger in Tesla vehicles. The latest crash in Lake Forest shows that burning fluid is escaping from beneath the car and is near impossible to extinguish. http://www.nbclosangeles.com/news/local/Tesla-Lake-Forest-Home-Fire-441816433.html This same fluid that burns with a yellow flame can be seen any many other Tesla fires. Pictures are attached. The Tesla contains approximately 8 Gallons of Ethylene Glycol mix in its battery coolant system. This circulates through radiators at the front of the car which are easily ruptured in a crash. It is a known fact that Ethylene Glycol is flammable especially if is preheated to high temperatures due to SuperCharging or hard driving. These are not the same kind of fires as happen when the Lithium Batteries themselves catch fire. They burn with a white flame and explode like firecrackers. It is apparent that the Tesla coolant catches fire very easily and is extremely difficult to extinguish. Please see attached photographs for examples of this. Thank you. Concerned citizen.

This is a complaint about the issue of fires in the Tesla cars. There was an investigation into the fires in 2013. Tesla claimed that the fires were started by an object puncturing the battery pack and that the problem had been solved by the addition of a battery shield. Since that time there have been dozens more Tesla fires. It is obvious from looking at videos of fires that in most cases it is not the batteries burning (they burn with a white flame and with cells exploding like fire-crackers) In almost every case it is the coolant fluid that is burning. Propylene Glycol is flammable. Even when diluted with water 50:50 it is still flammable when there is sufficient heat to boil off the water content. When the battery cells are hot from recent charging or from hard driving then there is sufficient thermal mass to boil off the fluid especially if the radiator pressure is lost. The Tesla radiators and fluid hoses are at the front of the vehicle and are highly vulnerable to impact damage. Teslas contain over 6 gallons of flammable Glycol. The batteries themselves will not self ignite unless they are crushed in a heavy impact. The risk of fires from a leakage of hot Propylene Glycol is far greater. A Google Image search for Tesla fire shows dozens of cases where pools of fluid are burning on the ground beneath the car and the front of the car is engulfed in flames. Most of these fires are not accompanied by Battery Pyrotechnics they are simply coolant fires. Please reopen the fire investigation.
