Here is a Tesla in the junkyard: https://www.iaai.com/Vehicle?itemID=25626248&RowNumber=65&loadRecent=true&isNext=true It has been completely burned out. The airbags have not been deployed. The front LH wheel is pushed back in the wheel well and that could have caused the fire by making the coolant leak out. If the battery pack is hot from recent charging or from hard driving it is highly likely to catch fire if coolant is lost. Teslas seem to catch fire more often than any other electric vehicle. Please investigate.

I am filing this complaint on behalf of the owner who has indicated that she has not yet filed a complaint and may not do so if she is satisfied with the response from Tesla. Here is the discussion thread: https://teslamotorsclub.com/tmc/threads/cracked-forelink.95637/ SNIP : JenniferQ, Saturday at 7:15 PM Was driving yesterday on the freeway in AP in heavy traffic with 3 kids in the car, and the car stops suddenly and successfully, but then a terrible sound emanates from the left front wheel. Kids crying so I pull off the freeway thinking something is caught on the wheel/tire to find the back of the LF wheel well cover lifted up and pressing against the tire. Once roadside gets there, the tech shows me how the “A arm” has split and come off of the ball joint and dropped down and is interfering with the wheel. Wow! Service was exceptional. I was about 1 hour away from the nearest service center in Friday afternoon traffic, but roadside and a loaner Tesla (O.G. from 2011, so now I understand a lot more about the posts from before 2015!) showed up and we were back on our way out of town within about an hour. But, this could have been a serious accident. I wonder what caused the failure. The Tesla tech says maybe improper torqueing of the forelink. Just wondering if this has happened to anyone else? My car has almost 30k miles and has had no other mechanical issues. Very unnerving, to say the least, at what could have been a serious accident if we’d been going at speed and the suspension had come apart like this then. Thoughts?

Here is a fresh report of a Tesla suspension failure: https://teslamotorsclub.com/tmc/threads/tesla-upper-control-arm-cracked.96329/#post-2257474 SNIP:It all took place Yesterday when My Wife were driving to visit one of her Colleague. While turning into a left turn at a relatively low speed she heard a Loud BANG. She did not think of much but immediately she notice that her brake were completely gone and the dash had malfunction warning all over the place. she had to struggle to pull the car to safety but was hitting many of the safety bump on the ground. Within minutes the campus police pull up and ask her what happen. She got out of the car notice the our 2013 Model S P85 was Sitting on the ground with one of the wheel completely bend. It looks like as if the Axle had gave away. *** To me it is obvious that this is not an wear and tear. It is an manufacturer Part Defect. and After reading on many form it seem that the suspension was a big problem on the early production TESLA MODEL S. I have been in Mercedes for Years and my previous S Class were at 125,000 Miles. I have not seen anything like this. Currently they are still refusing to cover the repair. Luckily enough my wife was driving locally not on the Freeway. I can’t imagine what a catastrophic accident it will be if she were travel at a high speed. *** If NHTSA continues to ignore these failures there will be consequences. Please note: I am not a Tesla owner. I am continuing to file these reports in the public interest because you can see by reading the thread that owners come under pressure from Tesla supporters to keep these failures a secret. The pro-Tesla forums frequently censor, delete, or bury such complaints. I have used a dummy US address to comply with website requirements. My genuine contact details have been supplied to NHTSA.

There was a fatal crash in Hawaii on June12th this year. http://khon2.com/2017/06/12/waimanalo-man-killed-in-crash-on-pali-hwy/ The Tesla driver claims that he was hit from behind by a speeding SUV which then lost control and overturned killing the driver of that vehicle. Photographs at the crash site show the Tesla having lost the LH back wheel. The Tesla has now shown up in the salvage yard: https://www.copart.com/lot/32722527/Photos The car is undamaged apart from having lost a wheel. It was NOT hit from behind. It is absolutely clear that the Tesla lost a wheel without any impact damage and that the SUV was forced to swerve to avoid the Tesla making that driver lose control and roll over causing his death. Please recall these cars before more innocent lives are lost. I am filing these reports in the public interest. A dummy USA address has been used to satisfy your website requirements. It has not been hit from behind (and especially not by an SUV that was claimed to be travelling at high speed).
Per the report, the Tesla owner lightly scraped the guard rail after the car became hard to control.
Losing a wheel tends to have that effect.

Here is another Model S in the junkyard: https://www.iaai.com/Vehicle?itemID=25560077&RowNumber=32&loadRecent=True It can be seen that the front suspension has collapsed causing both wheels to be jammed up in the wheel wells. The front wheels have gone cross eyed. The left one is pointed straight, the right one is turned inwards and canted over. Both back suspensions have been ripped off. The right hand wheel and suspension have snapped off without any real damage to the bodywork. The LH quarter panel is bashed in, most likely because the car became rather difficult to steer after the suspension collapsed. There have been many other similar cases of Tesla suspension failures. Please recall these cars before more lives are lost. Thank you. Please note I am not a Tesla owner but simply a concerned citizen who is forced to share the roads with these dangerous vehicles. Here is a report of a Tesla crash in Germany: http://www.nachrichten.at/oberoesterreich/Tesla-krachte-in-Linzer-Fruehverkehr-gegen-Strassenlaterne;art4,2601196 And a YouTube video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X0E5ob5x9Ak The driver reports that the steering suddenly locked up. The video shows that the LH front wheel is pushed up and back in the wheel well and that the suspension has collapsed. This side of the car did not hit the pole and is undamaged apart from the collapsed suspension. There have been dozens of similar incidents in which the Tesla suspension has collapsed. There are no bump stops on the Tesla suspension and a simple air leak can cause a disaster. This incident could easily have caused a fatality. Please investigate this incident. Thank you. I am not a Tesla owner just a concerned citizen.

Here is yet another report of a Tesla suspension collapsing and sending the car veering across the road: https://teslamotorsclub.com/tmc/threads/urgent-spontaneous-suspension-failure-lack-of-tesla-support.97394/ SNIP - EnumC, Saturday at 10:22 PM Hi everyone! Does anyone have any experience with Tesla repairs? We were driving on the freeway when our model S suddenly started swerving after an initial loud sound. There’s nothing on the road, and we had to drive the vehicle off the freeway without hitting other vehicles. Luckily, no one got hurt, but we rolled off the side of the freeway onto an exit ramp. The local repair shop that highway patrol tolled to informed us that this is a suspension failure. We were driving at around 60mph when this happened. We contacted Tesla support, who said they will take a look at the issue, but they are still trying to evade talking to us about the exact issue after a month with no updates. They informed us they have “escalated” the issue over a week ago, but no updates at all. Could we get some suggestions on what we should do from fellow Tesla owners? I am completely lost at this point. The wheel seems to have caved in: ******* I am reporting this in the public interest as it is obvious from the discussion in that forum that the owner will not be reporting it himself. He is being pressured by the forum posters and also by Tesla who want him to sign an agreement so that he takes over responsibility for the repair. A photograph of the Tesla with a whompy wheel is attached.

What happened?
There has been an incident in which the doors of a Model X opened whilst the car was unoccupied and the driver’s door was hit by a passing truck: http://www.caradvice.com.au/587189/tesla-model-x-door-opens-automatically-gets-torn-off-by-passing-truck/ There is a dispute between Tesla and the owner with Tesla claiming that the owner opened the doors with the remote key-fob. It can not be certain that the Tesla version of events is correct. It is remarkable that in every crash involving a Tesla the company claims the logs prove it was the fault of the owner. Even if the cars logs did genuinely show that a signal from a remote caused the opening it is possible that a fault in the key-fob was responsible. Tesla key-fob batteries fail often. Low batteries in electronic devices can cause spurious faults. Tesla has only recently updated the software to allow remote door opening. I believe that this gimmick is unnecessary and dangerous. A passing cyclist would not be expecting the doors of any empty car to suddenly swing open. Please investigate. Thank you. A concerned citizen.
