Here is a mangled Tesla in the junkyard: https://www.iaai.com/Vehicle?itemID=27142707&RowNumber=62&loadRecent=True Judging by the condition of the wreck and the bio-hazard stickers on it there can be little doubt that this was a fatal crash. The front suspension is broken which may or may not be the result of the crash. The back RH wheel and suspension is completely missing but there is no damage to the bodywork at that section of the car. Given the know weakness and repeated failure of Tesla suspensions it is a near certainty that the back wheel fell off and caused this crash. The number of smashed Teslas in the junkyards is astonishing considering that these are near new cars and quite rare on the roads. They are mostly bought by wealthy and mature age drivers. No other luxury passenger car crashes at such a high rate as Teslas. PLEASE do something about this. Thank you. Concerned citizen. (name and contact details provided) Date of crash an approximation.

Here is another Tesla in the junkyard:https://www.iaai.com/Vehicle?itemID=27797817&RowNumber=76&loadRecent=True It has not been in a crash except that another car seems to have given it a very slight bump up the clacker. What is very interesting is that the LH front wheel is pointing straight ahead but the LH wheel has gone all whompy. This probably caused the Tesla to slow down unexpectedly causing the car behind to boink it up the rear quite vigorously. Please be so kind as to investigate this. Thank you

Here is a Tesla in the junkyard: https://www.copart.com/lot/28880838/Photos There is no damage to the bodywork and it has not been in a collision but the suspension has collapsed jamming all the wheels up into the wheel wells and causing the car to stop so rapidly that the air bags have deployed. It is only by good fortune that this did not cause a collision with another car. It is a proven fact that the air suspension on Teslas does not have limit stops and is prone to this kind of failure. The auction listing for this car notes that it has suspension damage. This car is a danger to road users. It is badly designed, shoddily constructed, and the culture at Tesla discourages problems like this from being reported so that the issues can be addressed at the source. Please take action. Thank you. Concerned citizen.

Here is a discussion thread from United Kingdom in which Tesla owners report several cases of snapped suspension ball joints (photographs are included) https://speakev.com/threads/model-s-recall.109425/ SNIP**** There have been a spate of Teslas where the front suspension fails reversing on full lock, for some reason over the icey weather I saw reports of 3 in a matter of days. One hunch is a rubber bush becomes less malleable or brittle in the cold…I take your point, and forums are a haven for the negatives, but there did seem to be a flurry of them on the Facebook group a couple of weeks ago. I remember one was in the middle of Guildford High Street and the poor owner was berated for blocking a parking space! *** This identical breakage of the ball joint stem has been reported to NHTSA many times before. It is still affecting late model Teslas and it seems that the stem is made from two parts welded together. The fracture usually occurs close to the weld and in the zone that has turned blue from the heat of welding. In addition to the photograph from this discussion forum I have attached a close up photograph of a broken part which has the same failure. I do not believe that Tesla is going to fix this problem voluntarily but rather that they will continue to cover up and deny the breakages.

Here is a suspension part for a Tesla up for sale on Ebay. https://www.ebay.com/itm/2012-2015-Tesla-Model-S-Right-Rear-Suspension-Toe-Link-OEM-1043964-00-C-G252/162890358538?epid=908253627&hash=item25ed059f0a:g:ooYAAOSwqfZaekms&vxp=mtr The photographs (attached) show that the eye of the link has been stretched and is liable to snap with any load applied. This shows just how absurdly weak these critical parts are even when in new condition. There is a thriving market in used Tesla parts salvaged from wrecks because Tesla charges very high prices for parts and labor. Tesla is known to be very reluctant to repair cars that have had any kind of suspension repairs. This is forcing owners to perform dangerous DIY repairs. This is putting many road -users lives in danger. Please take action. Concerned citizen

Here is a Tesla that is in a junkyard in UK. https://www.copart.co.uk/lot/23480858 The front RH suspension is smashed into pieces. The damage looks much more consistent with a mechanical failure than with being the result of a collision. The lower suspension ball joint stems have snapped. This failure has been reported on many other Teslas. The cast aluminium steering knuckle has fractured which is indicative of a casting flaw. The wheel has been sliced apart almost certainly due to contact with a broken suspension part whilst the car was still driving down the road. These cars are arriving in the wrecking yards in huge numbers considering how relatively few Teslas have been sold. It is very strange that so few owners make their own reports to the safety authorities. This is probably because so many owners are also Tesla shareholders. Please investigate. Thank you. Genuinely concerned citizen.

Here is a Tesla in the junkyard: https://www.copart.com/lot/29160998/Photos It has been involved in a major accident and it is highly probable that the occupants have been seriously injured. The LH back wheel has gone extremely whompy . The suspension is quite obviously broken to cause the wheel to be skewed over at such an angle. It is a proven fact that the Tesla wheels are quite fragile. It can be seen in the official crash test videos that the alloy wheels break apart which is supposedly because they should break apart rather than breaching the passenger safety cell. Since these wheels are fragile it is most unlikely that the suspension broke because of a hard impact to the wheel in the crash event. It is far more likely that the suspension breakage was the cause of the accident rather than just the result of the crash impact. I believe that Tesla is being given far too much benefit of the doubt and that these all to frequent crashes are often being caused by mechanical failure of absurdly fragile alloy suspension parts. Please investigate. Thank you. Concerned citizen. Date of crash is an approximation.

Yet another Tesla in the junkyard: https://www.copart.com/lot/29600438 Front RH suspension collapsed. Wheels gone whompy and crosseyed. Here is another Tesla in the junkyard: https://www.copart.com/lot/38280127 It has been completely destroyed by fire. Despite the extreme fire damage it is clear from the attached photograph that the suspension links on the RH back wheel are cleanly snapped off. This is not because they have melted in the fire because there are two clear fractures and the wheel has gone whompy. Another case of fragile alloy suspension parts causing a crash followed by a fire most likely to to leaking hot Glycol followed by ignition of the battery pack. These cars are worse than the old Pinto and Corvair. They are unsafe at any voltage. Please investigate. Seething citizen etc. etc. Date of incident is an approximation.

You know if a car gets into a accident, things get bent and broken…

#119

You know, if your wheel goes whompy because the suspension is made of cheese then you are likely to crash head on into another vehicle.

Here is a Model X in the junkyard. https://www.copart.com/lot/42227508 It has not been in a collision. No air-bags have deployed. The back suspension has fallen to bits causing the wheel to go all whompy. The wheel itself is undamaged but the tire has been worn right down to the canvas because it was rubbing against the wheel well before the suspension finally snapped causing the wheel to burst outwards . These suspensions are ridiculously weak because they are made from sliced extruded Aluminum which has about as much strength as cheese. This could easily have resulted in a fatal crash. Please investigate. Thank you. Vexed citizen. I am not the owner. Date of incident is an approximation.
